Antique gold kadhua zari on wine silk

Maison guidelines · 2026

The silk
sets the rules.

ORAA is a production maison. Colour, type, and photography are taken from the cloth — katan, zari, rice paper — not from a generic luxury kit.

Essence

From the loom. To the drape.

ORAA is not a bazaar and not a single-city house. It is the market where weaving clusters list sarees as they leave the loom — with the house, the days, and the GI on the tag.

We are

A production maison

The saree is made, then sold. Rate is the loom rate. The cluster is the merchant.

We are not

A warehouse brand

No trader’s pile, no “% off”, no fake urgency. Heirlooms are not flash sales.

Retail

One drape

The same photography, provenance, and care as a boutique — at the production ticket.

Wholesale

The dozen

Boutiques and wedding houses buy by the lot. Language stays maison. Rates stay on the desk, not on a sticker.

Wordmark

ORAA

A coined house name — the breath between shuttle throws. Always Latin capitals, always tracked. Never a slogan lockup on the mark itself. The buti (silk seed) sits to the left, never as a social-app icon in gold gradient.

Clear space

Keep a full letter-height of rice paper around the wordmark. Do not place it on busy zari without a veil.

Colour

Named for the cloth.

Do not introduce a fifth “accent.” Temple green is reserved for GI and authenticity. Gold is metal, never yellow.

Katan #3A121C · RGB 58 18 28
Loom #16090F · cinema, footer
Zari #C6A46A · metal, gold CTA
Zari light #E4C98A · type on Loom
Rice #F4EEE4 · page ground
Paper #FBF7F0 · cards, header
Ink #14110F · body on rice
Temple #243832 · GI only

Type

Bodoni for the house.
Outfit for the desk.

Headlines in Bodoni Moda — high contrast, like a temple border. UI, prices in body, and forms in Outfit Light. Never mix a third family. Never fake Devanagari with a Latin display face.

From the loom.
To the drape.

Bodoni Moda 500 / italic 400

Outfit Light · tracking 0.18em on buttons · uppercase for eyebrows, never for stories.

Draped wine Banarasi — photography direction

Photography

Cloth first. Face second.

Every listing needs the field, the pallu, and the border. One draped frame if we have it. Warm daylight or museum tungsten — no ring-light, no marketplace white sweep, no watermark. The gold frame inset is part of the maison, not a filter.

  • Close enough to read the kadhua
  • Name the cluster in the caption
  • Show blouse cloth beside the saree

Voice

Measured. Textile. Never bazaar.

Say

Days on the loom

“Twenty-one days on a Kashi pit loom.” Specific, dated, named.

Never say

Ethnic / festive steal

No “ethnic wear”, “steals”, “hurry”, or “upto 70% off”. Silk is not a coupon category.

Retail bag

Atelier bag

Not cart. Not basket. Complimentary dispatch, not free shipping.

Wholesale

Loom list

Ask for the list. Never “bulk deals”. MOQ is spoken, not shouted.

Business rules

Tuned to the floor.

Tag

Four facts

Every SKU: weave, cluster, days on loom, GI or origin mark. If a fact is missing, the piece does not list.

Price

Loom rate

Show one price. A struck MRP is allowed only as atelier reference — never as a discount badge.

Pack

From the unit

Copy must say the cluster packs. Do not invent a Mumbai warehouse if the loom is in Paithan.

Proof

Temple, not gold

GI and authenticity use Temple green. Do not stamp GI in zari — metal is ornament, not a certificate.

Do

  • Rice paper grounds, Loom cinema, Katan type
  • Bodoni headlines with one italic line in Zari Deep
  • Hairline gold frames on photographs
  • Diamond ornaments, never paisley clip-art
  • Outfit tracked buttons: “Enter the market”

Don’t

  • Hot pink, neon, or festival purple
  • Drop shadows, gradients on type, gold foil GIFs
  • Comic Devanagari, Papyrus, or a third serif
  • Stock “Indian wedding” confetti
  • Sale ribbons, timers, or “only 2 left” lies
